Acne

Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil (sebum) and dead skin cells. It often leads to various type of blemishes, including whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, and sometimes cysts or nodules. Acne primarily appears on the face, and may also appear on the chest, back and shoulders, where there are more sebaceous (oil) glands.

Acne results from a combination of factors, including excess oil production, clogged hair follicles, bacterial infection, and hormonal changes. It can affect individuals at any age, and permanent scarring may occur is the condition is severe and is not appropriately treated.
